Quint is one dumb cowboy. He takes off fishing leaving his new wife alone more times than he should. When he's not fishing he is working on his very successful Real Estate business. Then when his father dies he takes off to go fishing in Alaska without care for his marriage, his wife's feelings or even his mother's pain. He asks for a divorce, and she is ready to give it to him.
