Review to Meghan's little brother is back with his own story. He was just a blink in the Iron Fey series. I was not sure I wanted to start a new series with him. I gave it a try, thankfully. I have loved Julie Kagawa's story weaving in the past. She did it again, another great series begins. Ethan is now in High School, another one. He has to keep moving, to stay hidden, unknown. He can see them, the Fae, and if he shows it, it could be the end for those he loves. He seems troubled, to outsiders. He is often in trouble, disliked by school authorities, students and parents. He is not a bad kid, he is giving up his happiness to try to save them. He tries to stay unknown, but then Todd a bullied kid at school and Kenzie an obnoxious reporter draw him out of his shell. He can't just ignore them. In doing this they have drawn themselves into a world they may never get out of.Something is wrong, Fae are disappearing, something misty, something unknown and dangerous is there. Ethan wanted nothing to do with the faerie world ever again, but he will have to go there to save his friend. He must face his sister who he is so angry at for leaving him and his family. Along his path into the fae lands he meets some old friends of the previous series, Puck, Grimalkin, Ash and Mehgan, and others. They of course being Fae help and confuse the problems.Ethan wanted some answers from his sister, but none came. His relationship with her was strained and I hope to find out why she did.... in the rest of the series. The new characters Kerrian, Kenzie, Todd and Annwyl where all very interesting. We just got a light touch of each of them, we learned the most of Kenzie. She is hiding her own secrets. I found her hard to like she was so over the top pushy, but at the end I understood why. Kerrian, he was a nice surprise for me the reader and Ethan, I can't wait to get more on him. Todd is another wonderful character, I want more of. Annwyl, she didn't leave me wanting more, so we'll see how she grows in the story.Ms. Kagawa has a wonderful start on this new spinoff series. I would recommend read The iron Fey series first so you understand the background stories of the characters.
