A Tamale for Every Taste

Tamales: Fast & Delicious Mexican Meals - Alice Guadalupe Tapp

I have been making tamales for many years now. I did not grow up eating them, it was when I got married that I discovered these cornmeal gems. My sister-in-law made them every Christmas, too bad she wouldn’t share her recipe. Humph ! I have been searching and stumbling over different recipes and methods. I may not be up to her level yet but I’m getting there and this book gave me a big jump start. This book offers something I have not seen in other tamale books, shortcuts. Tamales take a long time to make, the author helps shorten that to where you can make a batch in under an hour. She writes about herself and her family, giving us some back story. I found myself really liking this person and admiring her perseverance.
The recipes, well she does use all the parts of animals, some out or the normal range for the American diet. Hey, there is something for every taste here. I am a vegetarian so I can’t say if those would be tasty or not. I was thrilled to see she has vegetarian and vegan recipes. The Easy green Corn recipes was, well easy and gobbled up at my Sunday potluck. I also made the Jalapeño Pesto Potato tamales for my family which disappeared leaving me with no leftovers ! There are so many wonderful recipes I can’t wait to try them all, all sound mouthwatering. So, I’ll move on what to do after your meal or what to do for that afternoon get-together where everyone usually just eats stale cookies ? make dessert tamales ! I want to try them all, but the Nutella Banana one was perfect for my potluck. Can you guess how they were received ? My plate was the first empty one on the dessert table ! I felt like such a winner. LOL next up ? The Oreo tamales, can you imagine, Oreo tamales, yummy.
Do you want to make tamales ? Sure you do, go get the book. Invite friends and family over make some memories. This is going on my cookbook shelf where I keep the winning books I will use again and again.A Tamale for Every taste
